We always tease that my mom's nickname is Grammy Poppins because she helps out so much and has such a knack with the kids. This year, we changed the nickname to Grammy Crocker due to all of the baking she was required to do by four highly demanding, highly adorable grandchildren (well, maybe only three of them cared all
that much.) From brownies, to Trader Joe's cowboy bark, to toffee, pumpkin pie, chocolate cake and cinnamon rolls.... she did it all. And don't think we didn't all gain about five pounds in the process... hehe. It was so much fun! I don't bake all that often anymore, so it's a treat for the kids to do this with my mom. I love it. And then of course, I had the time of my life Christmas shopping and putting together one project after another! We worked on the decor for Evelyn's upcoming birthday party; put together party bags, cleaned out my kitchen cupboards, fridge and pantry; worked on Christmas neighbor gifts and Thanksgiving decor projects. We didn't slow down for a minute! If anyone ever wonders where I get my energy from-- it's my Mom. She continues to do more in a day- even at her age- then I could ever dream of! I love it and love so much when she is able to come and visit our family. I don't have the privilege of living next to my family, but I sure do enjoy the visits when they come around.
Of note this trip was Evelyn's intro to fleece blanket tying.....she's now in the process of making a quilt for her school teacher and her brothers for Christmas. Dane's obsession with playing Farkle (a dice game) with my mom, lots and lots of soccer watching, and the Scream Fest Haunted Hayride... so much fun and not so scary! We really lived it up!! So grateful for my Mom~! Can hardly wait for next time:)
