Spring Break 2015

Such a fun week! I can't believe how wonderful it is to have a week off from school and sports and homework. Summer can't come fast enough.  It feels like this every May; just a crazy feeling of wanting to break from routine and relax at the beach or pool.

Especially this year, it's so great as Anna is no longer a baby and can go with the flow so much easier than ever before.  Shockingly, she still naps 2 hours a day (I've never had a child do such a thing at age 3). Maybe by summer she'll have outgrown naps completely and we will have the entire day at our disposal.  It will be a new thing for me.... to head out with the kids all day; for 10 years, there's always been one who needed to nap and would terrorize us all if said nap was missed, haha.

Spring break certainly gave me a little preview of the summer ahead.  Lots of kids running around;  lots of snacks to be had;  lots of fun outings!  We loved having the Rustands in town for part of the week.  It's just plain fun to have their family around.  Evelyn planned out most of our itinerary (acorn doesn't fall far from the tree... I ALWAYS plan an itinerary with guests in town).  For their first night here, she wanted a big game night with popcorn bar.  It was seriously so fun!! We played Murder in the Dark, Honey do you love me- will you please please smile?,  St. Peter, etc.  Such a fun night. Other itinerary items included: shopping downtown, a stroll around Seaport Village, playing at urban jungle and meeting Blake for lunch.  Loved every minute of their visit.

The fun didn't stop there!  The kids were really looking forward to a fun day at LegoLand with Grandma.  Kind of a crowded day at the park, but fun nonetheless.  So nice of Grandma to join us.... it's a little much for me on my own, mostly because Anna isn't able to ride a lot of the rides and she needs a companion!  We love having Grandma along to make us laugh and ease the load of four kids in a crowded theme park.

I'm so glad that the last day of Spring break included a beautiful outing with our dear friends who we don't get to see as much since our ward boundaries changed.  They had planned a ferry ride over to Coronado and then a relaxing trip to the park and ice cream parlor.  Aside from a gigantic meltdown from little miss Anna (naps were skipped all week), it was the perfect day and we enjoyed the scenery and company of good friends.

A wonderful week.  I'm so grateful for my children.  I adore each one and feel my heart will burst sometimes as I think of their sweet little spirits and the joyful fact that I am their mother.  Maybe because this is Mother's Day Eve.  I'm feeling so grateful and so blessed.  Being a mom is better than anything in the world.
