Grant is EIGHT

Love our little boy to pieces! He is mature beyond his years and so much fun to have around. He is kind, sensitive, athletic, funny, smart, and confident.  He adds so much sparkle and energy to our home and we adore him.  Here is an excerpt from the journal I keep for him!

Favorite Things:
Grant- you love to be moving and on the go.  Rarely do you choose to stay home when given the option to be out and about.  Your absolute favorite past time is sports and outdoor activities.  You love soccer the most of everything and are so extremely good at it.  You can play offense or defense like a pro and are by far the best player on your team.  You have been playing club soccer for 3 years and are a truly talented player.  You love basketball and football as well and are eager to play whenever given the chance.  You never complain about going to practices and when your practice or game is over, you race to Dane’s to watch him.  You are a very supportive brother and adore cheering big bro on.  Along with sports, you enjoy hiking, scootering, rock climbing, swimming, running, climbing trees, and riding your mini-motorcycle.  You love to make cards for people and write sweet notes;  you enjoy playing board games and baking with mom.  You love to fold paper airplanes and create cootie catchers.  You are responsible and wake yourself up in the mornings with your alarm clock.  You always do your reading in the afternoons and help with any task that is asked.  You love to listen to music as you fall asleep at night and adding songs to your playlist is a favorite pastime.  You love listening to music and watching super hero movies.  You are not scared of anything and always having fun.  You are happy and full of life and adventure.  You move five times as fast as the rest of us and never slow down!  Your favorite foods are sweets!  You love candy (skittles are your favorite) and chocolate ice cream.  You eat a tortilla with cinnamon and sugar every day after school.  You also love shredded mini-wheat cereal.  Your favorite place to eat is chickfila, pick up sticks and Rubios.  Your favorite TV show is Tom and Jerry. Your favorite song is: All Star by Smashmouth and you love Imagine Dragons.

Ways you Have Grown:
Grant, you are SO mature this year and SUCH a joy to be around!  You are responsible, happy, kind and fun to be with.  You help most of the time and are a loving brother most of the time.  Of course, sometimes you like to burst Anna’s bubble or tease Dane, but for the most part, you are very easy to be around and everyone in our family adores you!  You have learned how to read and are doing an awesome job in school.  You won the character trait of trustworthy this month in your class and were honored in an assembly.  You continue to come home almost daily with a character counts award for showing good behavior on the playground.  Usually you earn this award for standing up for someone else or being kind in some way.  You are very mature for your age and teachers love you.  Your soccer and basketball coaches love you too because you are coachable, passionate, and a good leader.  You are not worried about what others think but have a clear sense of who you are and where you are going in life.  You are super funny and find all sorts of silly things to say and do that make our entire family laugh.  You give the best hugs and kisses and you are sensitive and thoughtful to your family members.  After school, you run outside to play soccer for at least 45 minutes before you do anything else.  You are such a little sportsman.  You love to play and watch sports with Dad any time you can.  Speaking of Dad, you love hanging out with him and that is your favorite time of day when he gets home.  The two of you are like two peas in a pod.  You are very similar in many ways and you enjoy being with Dad as much as you can. You also love being with Dane and playing sports, hotwheels, legos or video-gaming together.  You look up to him in every way and are a very adoring little brother.  You love going on trips and spending time with your grandparents in CA and in WA.  You love little children and are super cute with our friends’ little girls and boys.  You will be an awesome babysitter one day!

Memories:
This year we went on a few fun vacations.  We traveled to Tucson for New Year’s and visited with the Rustands.  We traveled to Pheonix, AZ to see Spring training for baseball!  We traveled to Seattle, WA to see our family and cousins and then to Alaska on a cruise with the Marston family.  We had an amazing time exploring Juneau, Ketchican, Skagway, and Glacier Bay.  We also visited Victoria, BC in Cananda.  We loved our cruise to Alaska and you had the time of your life there— eating so much food and fishing on a little boat.  We visited with the Paces at Pismo Beach for a week as well….we were so busy!  Plus we moved into a new home.  So it’s been a crazy summer but also so wonderful.  We are so grateful for all the fun plans we were able to participate in.  Now you are a big second grader in Mrs. Ramirez’s class and you are loving your new school and friends and primary class.  You have adjusted well and been very helpful and happy.  So grateful for you, Grant.  You are the sunshine of our lives and we are truly so grateful and so blessed to have you in our lives.  We adore you Grant and know that you will do big things with your life.  You are a natural born leader, you are funny, smart,
sensitive, thoughtful and kind and confident.  You are a good example to others and always choosing the right.  Love you so much dear Grant.  SO grateful to have you for my son.
